It took me a while to get the message of this deviation. At first, I thought, "wtf is this. It's a tree with crows flying behind it." When I started looking at the tree, I noticed the structure of the branches. Then I started looking at it from a more conceptual point of view. The tree (which I will refer to as the Face) is anchored to a barren desert, which I see as the Face not being able to escape the clutches of being alone. Crows, being black, are sometimes shown as symbols of malice. The way the "mouth" of the Face seems to be the source of the birds makes it seem as if the Face is releasing its inner anger and sadness through a scream. For a mixed-medium piece, this looks very much like a digital painting. The Face has an almost painted look, not like a real tree at all. This adds to the surrealist quality of the piece. The huge raven detracts from the depth of the scene, looking like it is just pasted on there. JPEG distortion is also a problem in the preview. In conclusion, I believe that this piece is wonderful. The meaning of the deviation is obscured at first to us unartistic plebs but it has plenty of meaning behind it.
